Young Ukrainians Scared To Leave Their Homes As More And More Videos Emerge Of Forced Conscription
    BY TYLER DURDEN

As Ukraine’s manpower on its frontlines starts to dwindle, military leaders are becoming increasingly desperate to locate new recruits to propel its counteroffensive against Russia forward; however, the number of young people volunteering for such a challenge has plummeted.

Recent videos of young Ukrainian men being conscripted across the country have circulated in popular encrypted messaging apps in Ukraine, and those fearful of being sent to the front are actively engaging in evasive and, in some instances, illegal tactics to avoid such a fate.

The brutal mobilization by Ukrainian military recruitment officers of young men has been occurring for a year and a half now, Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet reports.

“Many conscripted men are taken straight off the street by uniformed men,” it states. “Most recently in Subcarpathia, a surveillance camera recorded the overreach of the authorities as a man trying to go to a store was kidnapped from his bicycle in broad daylight.”

The man was abducted right on a street during the day by police and conscription officers in a small village in the Municipal District of Munkács, with his bicycle left in the road.

Another video showed footage of a young man being pushed against his will into a burgundy army minibus in Mukachevo, Transcarpathia.

Similar videos have been posted from other major cities across Ukraine, including Kyiv and Odessa.

Videos of such instances are going viral on messaging apps such as Telegram and Viber, which can to an extent bypass the freedom of information restrictions that are now very evident across both Ukraine and Russia.

Some of the accounts posting this content have an increasingly large number of followers — upwards of 100,000 — with some accounts geotracking recruitment patrols in real time to help others evade what is known colloquially as the “love letter.”

Other young people are simply refusing to leave their homes due to an increasing number of unannounced mobile checkpoints in regions across Ukraine where military recruiters seek to catch Ukrainian men of military age off guard and conscript them into the forces.

However, excesses are not limited to Transcarpathia. In Vinnytsia, which is located between Kyiv and Odessa, for example, a video is also circulating of employees of the local military auxiliary command forcefully stuffing their victims into a luxury vehicle.

“Many young people no longer leave their homes. There’s always a risk. You have to be really careful and look around in case there’s any danger. It’s really stressful,” said one young Ukrainian man in an interview with broadcaster France 24.

“Why don’t young people want to be drafted into the army? Because they know the price of holding the frontlines. It costs thousands of lives,” he added.

Andrii Novak, a Ukrainian lawyer and specialist in military affairs, said that corruption among military recruiters remains rife, and some conscripting officers are playing the system to get rich quick.

“Because of corruption, there are illegal methods (to avoid the war), such as paying off the people from the armed forces commissary, or paying for a false certificate of disability,” he told the French broadcaster.

It is well known that military recruitment offices have become a hotbed of corruption over the last year and a half. In Ukraine, it is no secret that mobilization can be avoided for an average of €7,000. Officers can make incredible fortunes and some do not hide their newfound wealth, arriving at work in new luxury cars.

Most recently, one Odessa military commander, Yevgeny Borisov, was found to have spent nearly €4 million over the past year on a luxury mansion on the Spanish coast, as well as nearly €200,000 on a luxury car.

He also bought his wife a chain of shops on the Costa del Sol. If all this was not enough, Borisov was able to holiday in his Spanish palace despite the fact that the borders have been closed to conscripts for a year and a half.

Borisov’s case caused such a public outcry that, after nearly two months of complaints, President Volodymyr Zelensky had to declare that such figures had no place in the army. He even promised that all military offices would be reviewed.

Ironically, it is precisely in Odessa that Ukrainian conscripting soldiers are the most aggressive and underhanded; the region also features the highest number of conscriptions.

I think everyone is afraid to fight. I'm enough of a historian that I wouldn't equate our pissy Police gunfights "which are bad enough" with being in the middle of a combined arms battle, watching your buddys getting blowed up like popcorn. I bet 90% of American kids would run to Canada to avoid conscription anyway. That or their ass's are just to fat and/or have some kind of nervous malady that big pharma is dumping pills on.

Boy when some of these High schools let out they make the ground shake like a buffalo stampede. And these are military aged kids, or would be in a normal country, and are already phat phucks. The WW2 generation they ain't. Thank Jesus we still have good kids who step up to become professional troops or we'd be phucked. God bless them.

Substitute these young men for the males at all the Ivy league universities and what have you got? Young men who are pussies world wide due to the feminization of males world wide. Heck, in Russia many fled to other nations to avoid being drafted or conscripted. The only nation creating soldiers these days is China, why, because if you do not serve they'll shoot your family. Israel is perhaps the only nation with a hard core military from top to bottom facing off against the true believers of Islam. Heck they even hop up their jihadists on heroin and other drugs to take away their fears as they are sent into the Maw of war. America still produces warriors, though is lesser numbers than required. The cartels of Mexico are fighting for warlords and against each others that is almost tribal in nature.

When the war started the rich Ukrainian men fled to France and other European nations to avoid fighting. Zelensky would love other foreign men fight his war, that's why they want $200 from every American to set up his mercenary army. Just the opposite is happening in Russia, they doubled their reserve forces. Putin has more than 700k ready to fight.
If they don't want to fight, then head to the peace table. 😏

China is having problems too. Most family's only have one son and a military career is considered subpar in China. The pay is shit and the conditions are not spectacular by any means. Way to often strategists rank China by their shiny new weaponry and not the dimwits wielding them. In the army especially, in fact many officers can't even read let alone the soldiers.https://www.defenseone.com/ideas/202...roblem/381728/

They were making headways in having an all volunteer force. Don't know what the status of that effort is and yeah, that one child, where female babies were often killed, because a male baby was wanted, might come back to haunt them.

Hey Gov's DeSantis and Abbott, instead of busing the illegals to NY and CA, how about sending them to Ukraine ?

The truth is we dont know what the Ukranians want b/c their elections have been cancelled, pro peace parties have been banned, and any public dissent can get you thrown in jail.

Actions speak loud when words are banned. The actions of young Ukrainians suggest they're not on board with this conflict and would prefer a negotiated peace.

Alas, they were Democrats, so they cheated.

The Ukes and foreign volunteers were decimated because they couldn't stay off their phones.

You don't here Zelensky asking for any more volunteers to come and fight. Anyone care to guess why?

Zelensky wants western professional soldiers and equipment. No more aging volunteers or video game junkies looking for instagram likes. Zelensky wants money... lots of it. He has to pay his generals enough not to kill him.

We forget Ukraine is not a homogeneous nation. Stalin saw to that, tho Euro-tribalism goes back many centuries and spans many war's. There are still a lot of ethnic Russian conclaves sprinkled thru what is currently Ukraine. Romanian, Tartar, Moldovan, Hungarian, and these are off the top of my head. The maps of what is Ukraine have been redrawn so many times even since medieval, I couldn't tell you how many times.

But you have to admire how they have stood up to this onslaught when you look back at their modern History. In 2014 when this war really started Ukraine's armed forces were piece's of shit. They were corrupt, their equipment upkeep was shit, their morale was shit, they were fat, and they couldn't shoot worth a damn. So NATO got involved and began training them and arming them and making them get off their fat ass's and to stop stealing everything. In 2014 their own Defense minister said they only had 6,000 troops that would be worth a damn in combat. In 6 short years they went from shit to a force that stood up to, supposedly, a super power.

Of course History will note the Russian's are shit but even still you got to give these Ukies some credit. They didn't steal everything and lay down and they did kick a lot of Russian ass, "which tickled me". Of course they suspended the Democratic process but remember they are under siege and fighting for their lives against a Tyrant. While afraid to say it I'd bet that Zelenski knows that at best he wants to strengthen his hand at peace talks to settle this thing but I dont believe Putin can ever be trusted. Ukraine's suspension of personal rights are no different then What Churchill's Govt. did during WW2.

People in the West forget that at the fall of the Union Ukraine suddenly became the 3'rd largest nuclear power with a shit load of nukes and ICMB's in their possession. They gave them back to the Russian's "1993 Budapest Memorandum" for guarantees their borders would be secure and respected. Crimea they leased and the Russian's had full use of it as a naval base. Crimea itself was stolen from the Ottoman Empire in 1783 after the Russian's defeated them in battle but had a large Tartar population for centuries until 1944 when Stalin deported the entire Tartar population en masse, and other "undesirables", to various shit holes like Siberia where most died. Stalin then sent in many ethnic White Russian's to Crimea and Ukraine and told them to make babies in a move Adolph would have admired . The western regions of Ukraine refused to submit to Stalin's authority and he sent in Nikita Khrushchev who brutally put down any dissent. In 1954 the Soviets gave Ukraine back to the Ukrainian control even tho it stayed a satellite state of the USSR. This transfer of power was mostly administrative and a puppet regime was put in place like in all the various eastern Euro-commie shit holes post WW2.

Indeed this transfer was really a way of perpetuating the ethnic cleansing of the native population and replacing them with Russian's. This hatred of Russian's goes way back and these people haven't forgotten the Holodomor, the mass starvation and ethnic cleansing of the 1930's imposed by Stalin's idiot forced collectivization of all privately owned farms. He took productive small farms owned by a peasant class he considered a threat and not only forced them to adhere to shit communist agriculture practices but also stole most of their grain. Even during years of severe drought.

So this all this historical fucking over of Ukraine examples are just off the top of my head. Its probably far worse, historically, so were I a Ukie I'd despise the Russian's too. They are a real bunch of thugs, cocksuckers, thieves, and pricks. Every time one of these thugs are whacked I clap and I honestly dont see any short term mechanism for peace, neither historically or currently. Putin can not be trusted.
