Anybody come across interesting military items or things on calls ? I once went on a first aid call and when I got inside the house there were two very elderly people living here . But in the hall way was a picture of a young man in a WWII German uniform , and a black band across from corner to corner .

I realized it was their son who they lost in WWII . I had never seen a pic of a fallen soldier from the other side before . Since they came to America my thought was he may have died on the Russian front . I just found it interesting.
โ€œWhom shall I send, and who will go for us?โ€ Then I said, โ€œHere I am! Send me.โ€

We came across a WW2 grenade and a German Luger pistol with holster, complete with proof marks. Husband died, wife found his souvenir box and called 911. She also called her son from jersey. He arrived just minutes after we got there. Bomb squad said the grenade was inert. Son took possession of his father's WW2 box. We were only concerned about the grenade. But that pistol and holster was a sight to behold.

Ooh, this is excellent, there are some really great films on this list. According to my dad, the most realistic was "A Walk in the Sun". My favorite on that list is "12 O'clock High". Speaking of which, that new WW2 miniseries starts this week on Apple, "Masters of the Air". I bought a new computer a couple months ago and it came with a 90 day trial of Apple TV. I'm going to wait a few weeks until all the episodes are released, sign up for the trial and then watch. Very excited for this. In the meantime, THANKS FOR THESE LINKS DUST!!

I admire that era of movies. Black and white, classic acting, no computer pyrotechnics, and the women were feminine and stunningly beautiful. The plot was interesting and align more with the time period of the day.

There are a few more modern day movies which are great. But the vast majority of crap put out by Hollywood is unrelateable, and not worth going to the theater to watch. I can sit at home and watch on my own 75" flat screen without worrying about disruptions.

In the past 5 yrs, I've been to the movies about 3 or 4 times. That's how little interest I have about what's been produced. I enjoy streaming what I want. I can stop, go do something else, then return and pick up where I left off.

Ya know Jollyweird will call you a racist, because of you lack of support at the box office that pays the salaries of BIPOC types who work low wage theater jobs and all those poor struggling actors, actresses and screen writers.
Ah, what the proper response................ah, fungu.

The kids on the block said their WW2 vet fathers said that the sounds of the fire fight scenes in this movie came closest to what they experienced in actual battle.
