Conservatives Rally Around Donald Trump Following Arrest Prediction: ‘We Live in a Banana Republic’

Conservatives sounded the alarm following news that former President Donald Trump expects to be arrested on Tuesday based on “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

Republican lawmakers and conservative figures and commentators said the predicted arrest of Trump, who is running for president in 2024, shows how the justice system is “weaponized against all Americans” and warned that the United States is turning into a “banana republic.” Even so, many conservatives wager an arrest would only further reveal the extent of Democrat corruption, ultimately skyrocketing support for Trump’s presidential run.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” said House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who called for an immediate investigation into “if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) tweeted on Saturday that the “left’s conduct is similar to the conduct you find in a banana republic where the authoritarian state punishes its political enemies with criminal prosecutions in search of crimes.”

“Trump Derangement Syndrome does not provide legal cover. The public rightfully expects prosecutors to carry out our responsibilities without political prejudice. Indictments, investigations and incarceration to settle political scores shows a deep contempt for the rule of law,” Schmitt said.
🚨The reported upcoming arrest of President Trump by hyper partisan Soros prosecutor Alvin Bragg is some Third World Banana Republic lunacy and a very, very dangerous road to go down.

Richard Grenell, who was acting director of National Intelligence under Trump, said Democrats have “turned the powers of government against their political enemies” and “must be stopped or they will ruin our country permanently.”

“They are out of control – and have ushered in chaos on our streets, in the economy, and in the world,” Grenell said.

Donald Trump Jr. said the arrest of his father would prove that Democrats are “one step closer” to taking the freedoms of the American people.

“The same people who told you Donald Trump was a direct threat to American democracy are about to indict the chief political rival of their party and try to put him in jail. This has never happened before in American history. The Democrats under Joe Biden — and their media allies — are everything they told you Trump was — the actual authoritarian dictators hell bent on complete political power,” radio host Clay Travis said.

“This is literally happening the same week that we received direct evidence of multiple members of the Biden family receiving millions of dollars in payments from China, our chief political adversary, just because of their last name,” he added. “If anyone should be arrested next week, it’s the entire Biden crime family. Trump is being arrested for allegedly paying a porn star money. Meanwhile China is paying millions to the Biden’s entirely for political favor. It’s totally bonkers. We now live in a banana republic.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said an arrest “must be seen for the partisan pathetic ploy it is.”

“Virtually every campaign finance violation involves either 1) spending other people’s money illegally or 2) taking money into your campaign that you shouldn’t. Trump did neither. He used his own money to resolve a private dispute, irrespective of any campaign,” Gaetz said. “The impending indictment is based on an untested, tortured legal theory. Republican strategist Andrew Surabian said voters must not “reward the leftwing tyrants, who are weaponizing the government to arrest their political enemies, by putting anyone but Trump in the White House in 2024.”

“What’s happening is 3rd world Banana Republic crap and Republicans need to stand up to it,” he said.

In the same vein, House Republican Conference chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said that Democrats “fail to understand” that politically persecuting Trump will only energize Americans to vote for him in 2024.

“What these corrupt leftist prosecutors like Alvin Bragg and their socialist allies fail to understand is that America First Patriots have never been so energized to exercise their constitutional rights to peacefully organize and vote at the ballot box to save our great republic,” Stefanik said.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) predicted that Trump “will ultimately win even bigger than he is already going to win” if he is indicted.

“And those Republicans that stand by and cheer for his persecution or do nothing to stop it will be exposed to the people and will be remembered, scorned, and punished by the base,” Greene added.

Elon Musk: ‘Trump Will Be Re-Elected in a Landslide Victory’ if Arrested

Former President Donald Trump will win reelection in a “landslide victory” if he is handcuffed and arrested next week, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and Twitter predicted in a tweet published Saturday.

Musk’s tweet was in reply to David Freiheit — also known as Viva Frei, who, similarly, assessed that a Trump arrest will lead to a boon of political support for the former president.

Freiheit responded to a Fox News report speculating about the possible handcuffing of Trump and subsequent fingerprinting, processing, and transfer to a courtroom for arraignment. He wrote, “If this happens, it will be the beginning of Trump’s reelection.”

Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he expects to be arrested on Tuesday based on “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which is investigating Trump’s alleged role in hush money paid to Stormy Daniels. The former president also called for his supporters to protest in light of the news.”

This weaponized " government" continues to deny the will of the people their desire to constitutionally pick a leader and denies the public their legal right to decide on a leader elected by the public. These actions are sickening and and a testament to how far we have strayed from the desires of our founding fathers. I am disgusted by our government and at a complete loss as to what we, legitimate Americans can do to protect ourselves and our rights.

‘Legally Pathetic’: Jonathon Turley Shreds Alvin Bragg’s Potential Case Against Trump

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathon Turley called the Manhattan District Attorney’s potential case against former President Donald J. Trump “legally pathetic” after the 45th president announced he expects to be arrested next week.

George Soros-tied Manhattan District Attorney Bragg is allegedly preparing to indict the leading GOP presidential candidate “for alleged hush money payments Trump made as a presidential candidate in 2016” to Stormy Daniels, Fox News reported.

In a series of tweets, Turley said he is “highly critical of this case,” which he called potentially “flawed.”
…Bragg may be able to expect highly motivated judges and jurors in New York. However, the novelty and questions in this case would present difficult appellate issues for the prosecution.

              — Jonathan Turley (@JonathanTurley) March 18, 2023

“This is a flawed case if it is based on a state charge effectively prosecuting the federal election violation,” wrote Turley. “That federal case was rejected by the Justice Department. There are also statute of limitation questions that could come into play.”

“Bragg may be able to expect highly motivated judges and jurors in New York. However, the novelty and questions in this case would present difficult appellate issues for the prosecution,” he continued.

Turley also called on Trump “to tap down any inflammatory rhetoric.”
Donald Trump is saying that he will be arrested on Tuesday and is calling for "protests" to "take our nation back." https://t.co/pwl1nHJlhg I am highly critical of this case. However, given recent history, Trump needs to tap down any inflammatory rhetoric as we move forward…

              — Jonathan Turley (@JonathanTurley) March 18, 2023

In an opinion article published in the Hill Saturday, Turley wrote that the case was “legally pathetic” and highlighted issues with the “most-discussed” potential charge in the case.
While we still do not know the specific state charges in the anticipated indictment, the most-discussed would fall under Section 175 for falsifying business records, based on the claim that Trump used legal expenses to conceal the alleged hush-payments that were supposedly used to violate federal election laws. While some legal experts have insisted such concealment is clearly a criminal matter that must be charged, they were conspicuously silent when Hillary Clinton faced a not-dissimilar campaign-finance allegation.

A Section 175 charge would normally be a misdemeanor. The only way to convert it into a Class E felony requires a showing that the “intent to defraud includes an intent to commit another crime or to aid or conceal the commission thereof.” That other crime would appear to be the federal election violations which the Justice Department previously declined to charge.

He added that Bragg’s office could not prosecute the charge as a misdemeanor, as the statute of limitations is two years. He would have to pursue a felony.

All the pundits are getting air time because of Trump. It pays to be the alternative voice to the MSM.

The bigger story is going to be any protest that materializes and has ANTIFA plants ready to turn it into something ugly. Trump should immediately state not to attend protests, but instead join a future rally.

What felony? What he is being accused of is not a felony. Its a misdemeanor. There has been no conviction and if he opts for a bench trial, I do not think a judge would convict. Then there are appeals and so forth if there was a conviction. A lot of baggage with dirty laundry.

I highly doubt they are going through this much trouble for a Misdemeanor. They are doing this for one purpose, and one purpose only, to render Trump ineligible to run for President again. They are not doing all this for something that will be politically inconsequential. A felony conviction will jeopordize his Security Clearance. Also, since when do they empanel a Grand Jury for a Misdemeanor??

You can't render Trump ineligible to run for president. They are trying to influence public opinion, sounds like election inference to me. Everything they are doing right now is backfiring and the democrats are desperate. There are entire twitter threads where people that were lukewarm on Trump are now on the Trump train.
Trump could be indicted on a felony and placed behind bars and still win the presidency. That is not my opinion that is the law.
