It is stupid, Russia is not a member of the ICC, I don't think Ukraine is a member either.

War crimes trial take decades. There were Serbian war crime trials just a few years ago. It may be symbolic right now, but it sends message.

If its illegitimate, why would it upset you so much? Some Serbian war criminals died in jail. Did that discourage other despots? Maybe.

It's inconceivable today that Russia would turn over this war criminal. But who knows what the future will bring.

I thought WTF does the interstate commerce commission have to do with Putin and then I read it.

So much for Putin leaving Russia…….he is so paranoid like Stalin he won’t dare leave the Kremlin grounds. The Russian mob is losing millions, he’s going to buy it unexpectedly from some rare poison. Wait and see.

Pure political spin. Iraq issued an arrest warrant for President Trump for murder in relation to blowing up the Iranian general in a drone strike. Pure theatrics.

So this is purely symbolic in my opinion. I am under NO illusions that Putin will ever be brought before any sort of international tribunal. But, what I think this could be is to try to, if not catch anyone associated with Putin, to at least impede their ability to function or travel outside of Russia. It’s another roadblock to make things tougher for Russia. Now other smaller countries will also have a stain on them for talking to a “war criminal”. Maybe sanctions placed on them for dealing with Russia, so they in turn reduce ties to Russia. Because again, there isn’t anybody hauling Putin before a tribunal, with the exception of MAYBE political opponents of Putin ready to strike deals to snatch Putin up and they take power.

No, the ICC is a joke. No one takes them serious. Even the United States is not a member. Last year the ICC reached out to us looking for dirt on Putin, we told them to pound sand.

Tell that to Radavan Karavic, who committed genocide in Bosnia. He's likely to die in jail in the Hague.
Or the leader of Serbia,, Slobadan Milosovic, who was turned over to the Hague by his own government. He died in the same jail.
Could that happen someday to Putin? Time will tell.

I mostly agree with this statement except there are countries that do take it seriously. It will be harder for Putin’s cronies to operate in those countries, like how they have kids going to school in Europe for example. (Because they’re now associated with a war criminal) Yes, the ICC is a joke. But though it doesn’t stop Russians from doing what they’re doing, it’s another barrier they have to go around. Plus for a guy like Putin, his legacy means everything. Now he’s got this dangling around his neck. He’s never sitting in a jail cell to be sure, (unless he’s overthrown from within) but I’m sure this stings for a guy like Putin.
